Preventive oncology services at Ruplal Nandy Memorial Cancer Research Centre (RNMCRC), Chandannagar, Hooghly
1. Community based cervical cancer screening and early detection services
Cervical cancer screening and early detection services were provided to rural women in the districts of Howrah, Hooghly, Midnapore (East &West), 24 Pgs(South & North) and Nadia. The total number of women in the age group 30‐60 years availing of such services from April 2015 to March 2016 is 6875. All women were screened by Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) and Hybrid Capture 2 (HC2) test that detects 13 high risk oncogenic types of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). The HC 2 test for high risk HPV was positive in 96 women, the positivity rate being 4.2% and VIA positivity was 5%. All women with CIN2+ disease were recalled fortreatment at the Department of Gynecologic Oncology of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, Kolkata. Majority of CIN2 and all CIN3 women were treated by Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) and majority of 187 cases with VIA +ve and HC +ve cases are treated either with Cryotherapy or Cold Coagulation following the randomized table.(Table 2).  
In the districts of a total number of 180 ASHA workers, ANMs and Supervisors were trained to do community mobilization for motivating women to undergo cervical cancer screening
Initiation meeting involving the Block Medical Officers of Health (BMOH), Block Public Health Nurses (BPHN), ANMs and Health Supervisors was conducted in all districts to orient the participants on the necessity of cervical cancer screening, methods of screening and essentials of community mobilization. The total number of participants was 60 including representatives of all blocks of Hooghly district.
