Objectives

    • To provide histopathological/ cytopathological/ haematological diagnoses of different tumours
    • To provide biochemical , haematological & clinicopathological diagnosis / follow up in tumour and non tumour cases.
    • To provide safe blood (around 3000 units) to CNCI, Chittaranjan Seba Sadan & Sishu Sadan
    • To impart DNB Pathology Training ( broad speciality)
    • To pursue clinical research work in the field of tumour pathology

    Blood Bank(2008-2009)

    The blood bank collects around 3000 units of high quality blood units through arrangement of outdoor voluntary blood donation camps. The blood bank regularly participates in EQA on HIV testing conducted by Department of Bacteriology, R.G.Kar Medical College, Kolkata – performance always 100% accuracy.

    ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

      • Fresh DNB (Pathology- Broad specialty) has been accreditated from Jan 2013 by NATIONAL BOARD OF EXAMINATIONS (NBE), GOVT OT INDIA

      • Two primary and two secondary seats have been allotted to this department per year.

      • Two primary DNB PGT and one secondary DNB PGT has registered with NBE from this department.

      • Regular theory & practical training and regular seminars are held in the department

      • Dr G.K.Mandal , Asso.Prof & HOD delivered lecture classes on ‘’ Neoplasia and Pathological Terminology ‘to PhD students (25 in number) of Basic Cancer Research of Research Division of the Institute.

      • Dr G.K.Mandal , Asso.Prof & HOD chaired a session ‘Screening Technologies on Cervical Cancer’ in the 9th annual conference of Indian Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology(ISCCP) on 22/2/2014 at Kolkata

      • Dr G.K.Mandal , Asso.Prof & HOD chaired a scientific session on Oral Cancer in the 1st annual conference on ‘Recent Trends in Cancer Research – early diagnosis, prevention and therapy’ on 8/2/2014 held at CNCI, Kolkata.

      • Dr Saunak Mitra Mustafi Asst Prof attended IAPM(WB) conference in December 2013.

      • Dr Nikhat Ara presented an article on ‘Role of cytology in Lung cancer diagnosis’ in 1st annual conference on ‘Recent Trends in Cancer Research – early diagnosis, prevention and therapy’ on 8/2/2014 held at CNCI, Kolkata and was awarded certificate of merit.
